ohka - edo origami


shiroshirokara!!

this the a pattern of simply stylized sakura (cherry blossom) petals. the sakura has long held importance in japan, and is japan's national flower. 
in the Heian era, the aristocracy developed a fondness for it. in the Edo era the custom of hanami (cherry-blossom viewing), which is still enjoyed today, spread among the populace.

ohka motive usually for make traditional origami called dove. this form is a flying dove which have a legend. in the past, the dove considered to be a sacres creature at shrines such as thosa of the God Hachiman. 
they can still be found in abundance at shrines and parks throughout japan..
